ProfiClear Premium Moving Bed Module
The Oase ProfiClear Premium Moving Bed Module is a biological filter designed for connection to a pump or gravity fed ProfiCear Premium DF-L drum filter.
One, two, or three of these modules are connected in sequence. Pond water is first sieved by the drum module to remove solid particles and then fed to the moving bed module(s). The role of the moving bed modules is to break down dissolved organic waste in the form of ammonia, into less harmful nitrite and harmless nitrate. This process is carried out by bacteria housed upon Oase Hel-X 13 Biomedia. Each moving bed module is supplied with 50 litres of these small plastic media. They are kept constantly moving by a pre-installed aeration system that should be connected to an AquaOxy 2500 or AquaOxy 5000 (supplied separately). This superb design ensures bacteria living upon the Hel-X media are given optimum conditions for growth with a constant supply of oxygen and dissolved ammonia.
A new batch of Hel-X will take some time for bacteria to fully colonise them, and therefore to reach peak performance. Maturation can be accelerated by adding small balls of concentrated bacteria that break down gradually, such as Oase DuoBoost or Evolution Aqua Pure Pond.
Once bacteria are established, the 50 litres Hel-X media process of waste from up to 300g of fish food per day. Each module can accommodate a further 50 litres of Hel-X for increased waste processing (sold separately in 25-litre bags: Hel-X Biomedia 25L).
