Evolution Aqua Pure Pond 500ml treats ponds of up to 10,000 litres. Pure pond biodegradable balls contains bacteria and enzymes that break down organic waste in your pond water ensuring excellent water quality for your fish.

Pure Pond 500ml should be added to the area of your pond filter which contains your filter media. In traditional pond filters this will typically be the area that contains filter sponges and brushes. In more advanced moving bed filters, such as Nexus Plus, Eazypod, and Drum Filter systems, this will be where your small plastic media are located.

Pure Pond balls slowly dissolve into the water and stick to your filter media where they establish healthy populations of filter bacteria. These bacteria play an essential role in breaking down organic waste, and converting toxic ammonia and nitrite, to harmless nitrate. By adding Pure Pond balls to your filter each month, you can ensure your filter always has large populations of filter bacteria. This helps to reduce the risk of dangerous spikes in ammonia and nitrite, and promotes rapid recovery from population crashes that can occur over the course of the year.

Note on Nitrate: The by-product of biological filtration is nitrate. Although harmless, this is what feeds both plants and algae. It is essential to have a means of removing it from your system to prevent algal blooms. Having plenty of pond plants is the easiest solution as they readily consume nitrate and out-compete nuisance algae. However in ponds with few plants, regular partial water changes are necessary to reduce nitrate levels. This practice is often performed by koi keepers. It is also important to have a UV Clarifier working alongside your pond filter to kill unicellular algae that cause green water.
