What are rubber pond liners?
Rubber pond liners are supple and flexible waterproof sheets, placed into the bottom of a dug out area in order to form a pond. Pond liners create an impermeable barrier to keep the water in. They are cheap and easy to install.
What are rubber pond liners made of?
Our standard rubber pond liners are made from the highest quality, 0.8mm thickness, PondEasy EPDM rubber. They are much stronger and durable than inferior pond lining products such as HDPE (which we recommend avoiding at all costs).
Why choose a rubber pond liner?
Rubber pond liners are more durable than plastic or PVC liners, and less likely to puncture over time. They are 100% UV and frost resistant, and generally a lot thicker. Their supple and stretchy nature makes them very easy to install, and ensures plenty of ‘give’ as they bed in. For most applications we recommend opting for a rubber pond liner over a PVC one.
What are the best rubber pond liners?
The best rubber pond liners are made from EPDM or butyl (which have identical properties). Butyl rubber liners used to be common but these days EPDM is cheaper to produce, and far more popular as a result. We sell two types of EPDM rubber pond liner online: our standard PondEasy rubber pond liners, and our premium grade Elevate pond liners. However we are still able to take butyl rubber liner orders over the phone.ย
How thick should my rubber pond liner be?
Our PondEasy EPDM rubber pond liners are 0.8mm thick and highly suitable for most pond builds. However for maximum thickness our 1mm Elevate rubber pond liners are a good ‘belt and braces’ option.
How long do rubber pond liners last?
Good quality EPDM rubber pond liners can last for 30 years plus provided they are installed with care.
