Pond cover nets have multiple uses, and can be used either year round or for specific seasons based on their functionality:

• When used all year round they offer great protection for your fish from the ever present herons. There is nothing more upsetting that find your fish stocks have been ravaged by herons. Those fish that don’t end up in a heron’s belly may often bear the scars of being grabbed. You will see diagonal marks over the dorsal area extending down the flanks of the fish. These are the lucky ones!
• You can deploy your pond cover net during the autumn period to prevent leaves from entering your pond. The leaves are then easily harvested by gently pulling the net from the pond (a two person job). The leaves can then be bagged up for your waste collection or put on your compost. Leaves that enter the pond will rot down and add a lot of organic waste. This in turn means poor water quality for fish and higher risk of nuisance algae. A pond cover net is a simple and very effective solution.
• Used during the winter months, pond cover nets offer excellent protection for amphibians from birds (which are their main predator). Once marginal plants have died back and/or been cut back during winter, there is far less cover for wildlife. A simple pond net can make all the difference to their chances for surviving until spring.
